As a member of the Classic Cleaners blog team, I love visiting our Classic Cleaners locations and plants to see what’s going on at Indy’s finest dry cleaner! We’re always cleaning some interesting garments, I can assure you.

What you see in this photo are an Irish dancing troupe’s costumes. We’re very proud that they entrust their treasured (and no doubt expensive) costumes to Classic Cleaners. It’s also a good decision on their part–for a number of reasons: cost, quality, and convenience.

Whether you send us an elaborate costume or an everyday shirt, you have a whole team on your side making sure that your garment is cleaned and finished to perfection. These costumes were given extra-gentle treatment and cleaned with our special enzyme-based detergent (did you know that we dry clean and launder all garments without the use of heat?). Then they were finished by hand on a series of stations, each of which is designed to hold a particular part of the garment in place while it is pressed with extreme care.

They look great in the photo, but these costumes looked simply magnificent in person!

If you have a Halloween costume–or any other special garment–that needs cleaning, please bring it to us–we’ll treat it right and deliver fantastic results!

What are these odd-looking boxes? They are the hanger caddies of Classic Cleaners! As an environmentally responsible dry cleaner in Indianapolis, Classic Cleaners seeks to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible. So it’s only natural that we do our best to gather wire hangers and reuse and recycle them!

We encourage you to give us your unwanted wire hangers:

• The hangers can be from anywhere, not just Classic Cleaners.
• You can take the hangers into one of Classic Cleaners’ 17 convenient dry cleaning locations or give them to your route driver if you are receiving Classic Cleaners’ free home pick-up and delivery.
• You don’t have to use our hanger caddies; other types of bags and boxes are fine.

Having too many wire hangers around the house is a pain, isn’t it? So please give them to us–we’ll take care of them the right way!

Congratulations to Brooke Hynds Mackin, who celebrated her wedding on August 15, 2009. She was the third bride to wear this gorgeous wedding gown, the other two being…

• Brooke’s mother Cindy Timanus Hynds on May 12, 1979
• Brooke’s grandmother Evelyn Galucci Timanus on August 24, 1947

The wedding gown was originally made by Evelyn’s sister-in-law, Mary Gallucci, who, according to the family, was like a mother to Evelyn. When Evelyn was 13 years old, she found a photograph of this dress in a magazine, clipped it out, and asked Mary to make it for her future wedding day. Mary made the dress without a pattern.

Here is Brooke in her gown, which looks virtually as new as it did 62 years ago:

Classic Cleaners is always looking for opportunities to be a good corporate citizen. Earlier this month, Classic Cleaners supported the “Heaven Sent” charitable event, donating 300 sweater bags and a considerable number of nail files to this good cause.

Created by Terry and several other members of a local Bible study group, Heaven Sent was a one-day charitable event serving disadvantaged single mothers and single grandmothers in the Indianapolis area. Terry and friends contacted over 30 churches and not-for-profit groups, which invited women in need to participate. The Bible study group members also collected donations of clothing, accessories, and various goodies from numerous sources, including Classic Cleaners.

It all culminated in a one-day bazaar, where over 100 women shopped for free with personal shopping guides who helped them find clothes right for them. The sweater bags Classic Cleaners provided were used to package clothing, and the nail files went into the gift bags.

Terry and her friends put on a fantastic event that helped a lot of people, and Classic Cleaners is proud to have helped out in a small way.
