…and They Lived Happily Ever After!
March 13, 2013
Most soon to be brides may agree that when envisioning and planning their wedding the following components are crucial to living happily ever after once the wedding day festivities are complete: Family, friends, the vows, the location, the food, the invitations, the photographer, and of course, their fiance. But, if they are honest, they’ll admit that first and foremost, it’s all about the dress (wink, wink).
According to The Knot’s annual survey of 20,000 brides, brides spent an average of $1,211 on their wedding dress in 2012. The survey breaks down the average of all wedding costs from the reception site to the favors and the survey found that the second highest wearable wedding expenditure was the wedding gown. (The most expensive wearable investment was the engagement ring).
Once a bride has spent months visiting boutiques and trying on multiple dresses to find the perfect wedding gown, she still needs to have it fitted, cleaned, pressed, and eventually preserved. But – who to trust with this gown in which much time and money has already been invested?

What Happens to Your Clothes When You Bring Them to Us?
February 12, 2013
What happens to your clothes when you bring them to us?
Who handles them and how do they make them look renewed and refreshed? Your clothes are in the best care when they’re with us! Our professional garment handlers are trained to remove stains, solve problems, press out wrinkles, and make your clothes look the best they can.
The process starts at the counter when you drop off your cleaning (or on your doorstep if you’re a route customer). This is the best time to let us know about any stains that may require extra attention, or to identify any other potential problems. That way we can be sure our garment experts will be able to give your clothes any extra care needed.
We identify your garments with a tag system, then sort them by type, fabric content, color, and cleaning method. Some garments may need to be laundered, hand washed, or wet cleaned. Other specialty items such as leathers or furs require special care. Some garments may require some stain removal efforts before we clean them, and others may not. It all depends on each individual piece.
Dry Cleaning cleans clothing without the use of water, it’s true, but liquids are involved. Dry Cleaning solvent is the primary cleaning force in the process, using an eco-friendly fluid that cuts through grease and oily stains but does not harm most fabrics. Special dry cleaning detergents are added by a controlled system. Precision is of the essence to ensure properly cleaned clothing. Here’s more on our detailed dry cleaning.
Wet Cleaning resembles the home washing process because it uses water as the main cleaning agent, but that’s where the similarities end. Wet Cleaning uses highly specialized equipment and detergents to clean clothing, giving them a renewed and refreshed appearance.
After cleaning we check your clothes for any remaining stains that may not have come out in the regular cleaning process. This is called spotting or stain removal. Any lingering stains are removed as best as possible using the appropriate products. These items are then re-cleaned before we give them back to you.
Dressed to Im-Press
Near the end of the production line you’ll find the pressing station. This is where your clothes are pressed and made ready to wear. Pressing is a job that requires an eye for detail, and it’s these details that help you look good when you’re wearing your professionally-cleaned clothes to an important function or for work or play.
Following the pressing process, all of your garments are brought back together and placed in the inspection lineup. This is where we catch things like missing buttons, stains that may need extra work, and any undesired impressions from pressing equipment. Any item that does not pass this quality control inspection is sent back for additional care before being assembled with the rest of your order and bagged.
That’s the process in a nutshell. Thanks for taking the tour! If you have any questions about the clothing care process, feel free to ask a customer service representative or contact us. We also clean shoes, area rugs, households and specialty items! We love what we do and we’re only too happy to talk about it.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon at any of our 18 convenient locations.

The Number One Reason We Think You Should Tailer Your Clothing
February 7, 2013
Are your pants dragging the floor; does the rear sag; is your belt cinching the waistband so tight you resemble Ed Grimley? What about that jacket? Do you look like you’re playing dress up in your Mom or Dad’s “grown up” clothes?
Okay, that’s a little dramatic but the number one reason we think you should tailor your clothing is because you are an Adult. The days of not caring what you look like are long gone along with that old couch you slept on in college. Today, you care more about your image and may be investing more in your clothing. If your clothing is ill-fitting, you’re not going to appear as polished and professional as you desire, no matter what you spent (or what the label says).
Classic Cleaners is the business of helping you and your image so granted, we may notice things a little more than the average person. And, we know the way you carry yourself, no matter what you’re wearing, will make more of an impact than the clothing on your body. However one can’t deny the impact well fitting clothing has on one’s appearance and confidence as well as one’s image. Your clothing largely impacts how you present yourself to the world and the message you send about how much you care about your image.
A simple tweak of the hem, seam, and/or waistband will solve above mentioned issues and regardless of how much you spent on the items, they will fit properly and allow you to present yourself even more amazingly!
Find a quality tailor you trust. Make sure you take to your fitting items you usually wear such as shoes, blouses, even under garments, to wear during your fitting. You’ll be surprised how little small adjustments cost to get a big return on the investment.
Our Tailor, Ohi Suhre, is at our Bash Street location and she’d be happy to help you. She’ll even keep your measurements on file for future needs. Right now we have a 20% off Alterations special until February 16, 2013. No coupon needed!
