Foursquare: Drop your pants at Classic Cleaners

May 18, 2011

In addition to finding us on Twitter and Facebook, customers can now “check -in” at Classic Cleaners using the location-based social networking website Foursquare! The more than 8 million users on the site check -in almost 10 times per month each to have fun and save money by interacting with friends and exploring cities.

Stop by, check-in, drop your pants and save money at the neighborhood Classic Cleaners on Allisonville Road at 96th Street. Using Foursquare, customers checking -in for the first time at this location will get a pair of pants cleaned for free! Users who check -in to businesses are awarded points and badges and can even be crowned “mayor” by checking -in more than anyone else to a specific location in a 60- day period.

Like Twitter and Facebook, Foursquare allows users to publicly share comments about businesses by leaving tips and suggestions for other users to see and evaluate. For new residents of Indianapolis, Foursquare is a great way to get much needed recommendations on the best things to do, places to see and companies that do great business.

Classic Cleaners Steps Out in Style with Dress For Success Indianapolis

October 3, 2010

The spotlight certainly shone on the Classic Cleaners table at the September 22 Stepping Out in Style gala, the annual fundraiser for Dress For Success Indianapolis.  This year’s function boasted one of the largest groups of supporters ever, with close to 900 attendees stepping out in “dressed for success” style.

At the gala, Classic Cleaners honored Dress For Success Indianapolis with a generous check.  In August of each year, Classic Cleaners runs a special promotion.  For every dry cleaning order of $20, the company donates $2 to DFSI.  This year’s check of $13,780 represented the sum of those $2 donations!

Dress For Success Indianapolis, in turn, honored Classic Cleaners as its longest business supporter in Indianapolis.  “Your support does not go unnoticed,” commented one of the guests to Classic Cleaners partner Steve Arnold.

While Stepping Out in Style is a very special occasion, the partnership between Dress For Success Indianapolis and

Dress For Success Indianapolis boutique

Classic Cleaners is year-round. Classic Cleaners acts as a collection site, accepting interview-appropriate suits and blouses on hangers. As needed, garments are dry cleaned, then delivered to DFS Indianapolis Boutique at 820 North Meridian.

Classic Cleaners also sponsors Super Sort, the culmination of Send One Suit Week (a clothing collection drive by local businesses, places of worship, and organizations), by providing donors with a coupon for $10 or $20 off a dry cleaning order.

Dress For Success Indianapolis’ Executive Director Barb Ellsworth expressed her gratitude with enthusiasm: “I don’t know what we’d do without Classic Cleaners! Funny, that’s exactly what so many of our indianapolis dry cleaning customers say!

Classic Cleaners Continues on its Racing Track

September 13, 2010

Ever since the Andretti racing team chose Classic Cleaners as the best green dry cleaners in  Indianapolis to take over the care of their racing uniforms, several other IZOD Indy Car teams have gotten on the track, seeking Classic Cleaners’ professional advice about green racing garment care.

A racing team’s dry cleaning and laundry order includes not only the uniforms of the racers themselves, along with underclothing, socks, and sometimes even golf shirts, but also the garments worn by the pit crew and other staff members.

Good thing Classic Cleaners technicians pride themselves on stepping up to face tough challenges.  All clothing related to racing must be made of fabric that is flame retardant, and if the garments are not laundered or cleaned properly, they can lose that resistance to burning.  Modern fire retardant fabrics may have protection built directly into the molecular structure of the fabric.  In that case, also, special cleaning expertise is needed.

At Classic Cleaners, knowing precisely how to treat fire retardant fabrics doesn’t always involve racing gear, but it can be important in drapery cleaning as well.  That’s particularly true of curtains that are used in public places such as school auditoriums or theatres.

Whether uniforms or curtains are involved, checking the manufacturer’s label is the first step. “Inherently fire retardant”, “permanently fire retardant”, or “durably fire retardant” all mean the protection is build into the fabric itself.  If the label reads simply “fire retardant”, that means the fabric has been treated after manufacture of the garment or drape, and Classic Cleaners technicians know that special non-liquid cleaning agents must be used.  At the same time, the entire process must meet or exceed the dry cleaning industry’s highest standards of environmentally responsible practices

Speed counts in auto racing, but at Classic Cleaners, patience and professional expertise are what won the title Certified Environmental Dry Cleaner!
